About Matt

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist practicing in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In my view, psychotherapy is about developing a fuller understanding of ourselves and learning to live in better alignment with what matters to us.

In my work with clients, I focus on:

  • recurring patterns

  • anxiety and obsessive thinking

  • relationships and attachment

  • identity and meaning

  • loneliness and belonging

  • major life transitions

  • existential questions

  • the gap between understanding something intellectually and actually feeling it

My approach

I draw from several traditions within psychotherapy. Depending on what you need, our work may include cognitive and behavioral approaches, exposure-based work for OCD and anxiety, exploration of relationships and attachment, and deeper inquiry into the patterns and assumptions that shape your experience.

The therapeutic relationship

A good therapeutic relationship requires both safety and honesty.

You should be able to talk openly about experiences that may be difficult to discuss elsewhere. At the same time, therapy sometimes involves feedback and questions that may challenge your approaches and patterns.

The goal isn’t tell you who you are or how you should live. It’s to create enough space for you to discover that more clearly for yourself.
